Pair of Late 19th Century Antique Victorian Staffordshire "Comforter"Spaniels
 
 A most attractive pair of Late 19th Century Antique Victorian Staffordshire pottery "Comforter" Spaniels, well moulded and simply decorated in a brown and white palette with gilt highlights. Such pairs of dogs, widely regarded as "Man's best friend", typically stood on the mantlepiece above the fire in the Victorian cottage home, their familiar, friendly and comforting presence giving rise to the habit of describing them as "Comforters". Antique Victorian Blue and White Transfer Plate : "Botanical Beauties" : Elkin and Newbon
 
 A good, Mid 19th Century Antique Victorian Blue and White Transfer Plate from the Botanical Beauties series produced by Elkin and Newbon of Stafford Street, Longton, Staffordshire, circa 1844-45. This particular pattern is illustrated in Volume 1 of Coysh and Henrywood's Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery 1780 - 1880. Geoffrey Godden states, in his Encyclopaedia of Pottery and Porcelain Marks, that this firm was in business for just a short period, manufacturing earthenware at their Stafford Street Works from 1844 to 1845.  An attractive and well coloured Antique Victorian Staffordshire Portrait Figure Group  of the Crimean War period, depicting Prince Albert together with Napoleon III, the French Emperor. To the left stands Napoleon, in full military uniform with cocked hat athwartships. To the right stands Prince Albert, in full military uniform with cocked hat fore and aft. They clasp hands. Antique Victorian Blue and White Transfer Serving Dish : "Royal Cottage" : Thomas Till & Son
 
 A large and attractive Antique Victorian Blue and White Transfer Serving Dish in the "Royal Cottage" pattern, produced by Thomas Till and Son at their Sytch Pottery, Burslem, Staffordshire, circa 1855. Decorated with a romanticised  view of Royal Lodge, which stood in Windsor Great Park and which, following alterations and additions carried out for the Prince Regent by John Nash, was now a large and elaborate cottage in the contemporary style of the cottage orné, with thatched roofs, verandas, and a conservatory. The reverse of the dish bears the maker's mark T.TILL & SON, together with the pattern name within a pastoral cartouche, these both in underglaze blue. Underglaze black transfer upon a white ground with gilded border. The reverse with Maker's mark in underglaze black. Offered complete with Certificate of Authenticity, now a little grubby.
