Victorians at Home : Susan Lasdun

A good, clean copy of "Victorians at Home", by Susan Lasdun, with an introduction by renowned architectural historian Mark Girouard, first published by Weidenfield and Nicolson of London in 1981. In this work, the author successfully attempts to chronicle the character of a range of English homes from the birth of Queen Victoria in 1819 to her death in 1901 and to understand this character in the light of the individuals who inhabited those homes. By concentrating on a number of families from widely differing backgrounds, she reveals the richness and variety of interiors during this period and shows how they reflected the aspirations and values of their owners. Fascinating text, lavishly illustrated in both color and black and white. Hard covers, large format, 160 pages, original dust jacket. Ref. ZVAHSL/A4. $45.00. *** INCLUDES FREE SHIPPING WITHIN U.K. ***
