A fine and most attractive pair of Mid 19th Century Antique Victorian Staffordshire pottery "Comforter" Spaniels, well moulded and simply decorated in a black palette on a white ground with, unusually, yellow highlights. Such pairs of dogs, widely regarded as "Man's best friend", typically stood upon the mantlepiece above the fire in the Victorian cottage home, their familiar, friendly and comforting presence giving rise to the habit of describing them as "Comforters". Early 20th Century Antique Minton "Durham Light Infantry" Porcelain Dessert Plate
A fine Early 20th Century Antique Minton Porcelain Dessert Plate of military interest, supplied by Thomas Goode of South Audley Street, London to the Durham Light Infantry Regiment. The regiment was raised by the redesignation of the 2nd Battalion, 23rd Regiment of Foot in April 1758, ranked as the 68th Regiment of Foot; it was considered the successor to a previous 68th Foot raised in 1745 and disbanded the following year by John Russell, 4th Duke of Bedford. The obverse simply decorated with the regimental crest upon a white ground with gilding. The reverse bearing the printed marks of Minton and Thomas Goode in underglaze puce, together with an indistinct impressed mark. Width : 8.75 inches : Year : Circa 1910 : Ref. This lovely Late 18th Century Antique Georgian Chinese Export Porcelain Punch Bowl really is a delight to behold. Attractively decorated in a lively palette of pinks and greens and with delicate gilding, the interior is well painted with a vase of flowers set within a circular cartouche surrounded by garlands of pink and green roses, pendant from a Vitruvian Scroll like design. These motifs are repeated on the exterior of the piece, producing overall, a well balanced and harmonious effect. Minor restoration has been professionally carried out to deal with some old fritting around the edges of this fine piece, which in no way detracts from it's serene enduring beauty.
