Established by a nucleus of dealers under the auspices of The British Antique Dealers Association, which had been founded in 1918 with broadly similar aims, and under the patronage of H.M.Queen Mary, herself an avid collector; the primary object of the fair was to provide a showcase for the Trade and to stimulate public interest in antiques during the depths of the Great Depression.
