A most attractive Late 18th Century Antique English Georgian Old Sheffield Plate Loving Cup of seamed construction and classical vase form; with restrained bright-cut fluted decoration, heart shaped finials to the swept handles, and retaining it's original turned wooden inset base. The one reserve bears the arms of what would appear to be a Welsh family, the motto within it's ribbon reading, "Y GWIR YN BEN", which, although we are sadly "Dim Cymraeg", would seem metaphorically to translate into English as "TRUTH WILL PREVAIL". The second, opposing reserve remains blank. For a comparable, though slightly earlier example, see Tom Frost's "The Price Guide to Old Sheffield Plate ~ Page 331 ~ Ref. Tan 30", { A.C.C. Woodbridge, 1971 }.
