Description

A large and decorative Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Pottery Serving Dish / Platter, attractively decorated in a medium blue palette with the "Fishermen with Nets" Pattern, here tentatively attributed to Robert Hamilton of Stoke { 1811 - 1826 }, although Coysh, { Blue and White Transfer Ware 1780 - 1840 ~ David & Charles ~ 1970 }, suggests that another maker may have used the same pattern, while Henrywood notes in "The Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery 1780 - 1880 ~ A.C.C Woodbridge ~ 1982 }, that other examples are known bearing the printed Maker's mark of Tams & Co. This example unmarked other than for a small impressed circle to the reverse.
