Description

A most attractive Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Pottery Plate in the sought after "Family and Mule" pattern, the Maker of which presently remains unidentified. The scene shows a woman leading a mule on which is seated a young boy, accompanied by two other children and a dog. There is a small bridge over a stream which they have just crossed and impressive ruins in the background. The border consists of large flowers and leaves on a stippled ground, alternating with sections composed of smaller flowers on a darker ground bordered by a prominent acanthus leaf and other scrolls. Unmarked.
