A very fine and imposing Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Figure of a Hunter, standing, wearing a plumed hat, long coat, waistcoat, trousers with leggings and boots, holding a rabbit in his left hand, another by his right, a brace of birds hang from a stump to his right, a rifle lies on the ground, and a dog is seated on a mound to his left. Curiously, Harding, in "Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835 - 75", catalogues this figure as standing 33.00 cm. / 13.00 inches high. This particular example stands at 40.70 cm. / 16.00 inches, so clearly it would appear that the figure was manufactured in two sizes.
Height ~ 40.70 cm. / 16.00 inches ~ Width ~ 19.00 cm. / 7.50 inches ~ Depth ~ 8.90 cm. / 3.50 inches ~ Year ~ Circa 1865.
