Description

A good example of this rarely encountered Vintage English Art Deco Wade Pottery Figurine "Daisette", designed by Jessie Van Hallen and produced by George Wade & Son, { 1922 - } at their Manchester Pottery, Burslem, Staffordshire circa 1936 / 1937. The base fully marked with script Title, "Daisette"in black, together with the "WADE" backstamp in black, and the "Leaping Deer Made in England" mark in red. These two latter marks recorded by Godden, { Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks }, as having been introduced by the pottery in 1936. This range of figurines was initially potted in earthenware with a cellulose spray finish, this example now somewhat crackled. Production techniques changed however in the late 1930's, when a porcelain body was introduced, together with the more traditional underglaze decoration and finish. This figurine would thus appear to be one of the last of the earlier range to have been issued.

Height ~ 24.75 cm. / 9.75 inches ~ Width ~ 20.90 cm. / 9.00 inches ~ Depth ~ 19.00 cm. / 7.50 inches ~ Year ~ Circa 1936 / 1937.
