An attractive Mid 20th Century English Vintage Royal Doulton Pottery Sandwich Plate decorated in the "Surfing" pattern, { Patt. No. D4645 }, depicting a group of bathers at the seaside. As instantly evocative of the period as a John Betjeman poem, these were produced from 1926 to 1946 and are increasingly difficult to find these days. This example, in fine original condition, is marked, Dubus, upon the reverse in black script, together with signature, as well as the underglaze printed Maker's Mark of the period.
