A good Mid 18th Century Antique English Georgian Pewter Dish or Charger of fine colour, with plain edge and of unusually large size. The reverse bearing the mark of Samuel Smith of Snowhill, London, { Cotterell 4380 }. Apprenticed to Edward Leapidge, { Cotterell 2894 }, whose sister Anne, { Cotterell 2892A }, he later married, and elected to the Freedom of the Pewterers Company on 10 August 1727, Smith was a partner in the firm of Smith and Leapidge and was twice gazetted a Bankrupt, in 1755 and 1761. Another fine museum quality item for the serious Collector.
