A scarce Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Fiddle Pattern Pewter Ladle, the handle stamped Dixon & Son { 1823 - 1829 } ~ Cotterell O.P. 1394. Pewter ladles, once everyday items, are now difficult to source in today's market, and this one is here offered both fully marked and in excellent condition. The entry in Cotterell regarding this firm makes for interesting reading, but whilst technically faultless, the fact is that in today's world, ie. some one hundred years later, Britannia Metal is regarded by most collectors as a grade of pewter.
