A scarce example of a Mid / Late 18th Century Antique Dutch or English Georgian Brass Chocolate Pot in completely original condition. Schiffer, { cf. The Brass Book ~ Page 345 C ~ Exton ~ PA. ~ 1978 }, illustrates a markedly similar piece from The Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum Collection, of which he remarks, "Chocolate pots are rare in silver, but still rarer in brass". This one the first to pass through our stock in over two decades ! Unsurprisingly, the pot is lacking it's hardwood stirrer / paddle, the correct name for which is a Molinillo, with which all early chocolate pots were necessarily equipped, the beverage requiring constant stirring as the chocolate settled so quickly.
