Description

A good Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Blue and White Transfer Pottery Plate in the perennially popular "Wild Rose" pattern. The bucolic scene here depicted, with Nuneham Park, the seat of Earl Harcourt to the left and a riverside cottage and two punts in the foreground, is based upon an engraving by W. Cooke after a drawing by S. Owen of the village of Nuneham Courtenay, about five miles South East of Oxford, published on 1st February 1811 jointly by Vernon, Hood and Sharpe of Poultry and W. Cooke of 12, York Place, Pentonville. Unmarked.
