Quite delightful ! This charming Late 19th Century Antique English Victorian "Flower Fairy" Ceramic Plaque is unsigned but bears on the reverse the impressed mark MINTON { Godden, Mark No. 2706 } as used from c. 1862 to 1871 above the faintly impressed number 6972. Godden is in fact a little confusing regarding this mark in that while the entry for Mark No. 2706 "MINTON" reads "Impressed Mark as used from c. 1862 to 1871 when "S" was added. This mark occurs with the impressed year cyphers", the entry for Mark No. 2711, "MINTONS" reads "Impressed mark from 1873. Note "S"added to earlier version, No. 2706". Overall, this leads one to wonder whether or not the impressed number 6972 may in fact be the date code for 06 September 1872 which seems altogether likely. Scuff marks towards the top leave it's condition a little less than perfect and clearly it would benefit from a suitable frame. That said, it's an unusual item that should appeal to the imaginative Interior Decorator.
