This striking Mid 20th Century Vintage Royal Doulton English Porcelain Figurine, "Good King Wenceslas" ~ HN 2118, decorated in a rich brown and purple colourway, was designed by leading Doulton artist Margaret "Peggy" Davies and was issued from 1953 to 1976. The underside with Royal Doulton green printed backstamp of the period, plus title, Good King Wenceslas, HN 2118, COPR 1952., DOULTON AND CO LIMITED, Rd.No.868330, { for 1952 }, Rd.No. 30497, Rd.No. 192/52, Rd.No. 6645, numeral 3, plus impressed Model Number and numeral 3, and in script, unidentified Painter's Monogram, H. Charlton, who interestingly, catalogue this figurine as being earthenware, list the height as being 21.60 cm. / 8.50 inches, however, this piece, clearly the earlier of the two examples presently offered here, is altogether larger, standing at 23.50 cm. / 9.25 inches and is somewhat lighter in weight than the other.
