This scarce and fine Early 20th Century First Year of Issue Vintage Royal Doulton English Porcelain Figurine, "Irene" ~ HN 1697, decorated in a pink colourway, was designed by leading Doulton artist Leslie Harradine, and was issued from 1935 to 1949. This example fully marked on the underside in green with the Royal Doulton printed backstamp of the period, together with the numeral 8, indicating that this piece was issued in 1935, the first year of issue, "Irene", Rd. No. 787516, { for 1933 }, In green script, HN 1697, and in red the Painter's Monogram, GGJ, unidentified, but listed as working at Doulton, Circa 1933. Indistinct impressed Model Number.
