This attractive Late 20th Century Royal Doulton English Porcelain Character Figurine, "The Lobster Man" ~ HN 2317 was designed by leading Doulton artist Mary Nicoll, and was issued from 1964 to 1994. Mary came from Devon, and is particularly admired for her models of seafaring characters, of which this is a good example. The Lobster Man sits on a rock, pipe in his mouth, regarding a lobster which he has just removed from his creel. The underside fully marked with the Royal Doulton printed backstamp of the period, the title, The Lobster Man HN 2317, COPR 1963, Rd. Nos., 911641, 44999, 9566, and 447/63, plus the Painter's Monogram, DA.
