This appealing Mid 20th Century Vintage Royal Doulton English Porcelain Character Figurine, "The Organ Grinder" ~ HN 2173 was designed by leading Doulton artist Mary Nicoll, and was issued from 1956 to 1965. The underside fully marked in black with the Royal Doulton printed backstamp of the period, the title, "Organ Grinder", H.N. 2173., COPR. 1955., DOULTON & CO LIMITED., Rd. No., 878041, { for 1955 }, Rd. No. 34546, Rd. No. 7309, and Rd. No. 447/55, indistinct impressed Model Number and numeral 1 plus green painted 10, Painter's Monogram S, unidentified but listed as working at Doulton Circa 1948 to 1955, which would appear to indicate that this is perhaps a FIRST YEAR OF ISSUE figurine.
