An attractive set of four small Mid 20th Century Vintage English Royal Doulton Pottery Dessert Bowls decorated in the "Surfing" pattern, { Patt. No. D4645 }, depicting a group of bathers at the seaside. As instantly evocative of the period as a John Betjeman poem, these were produced from 1926 to 1946 and are increasingly difficult to find these days. These four examples, in good original condition, each fully marked in brown with the underglaze printed "Ducal Crown" Maker's Mark of the period, together with Painter's monograms in black.
