Crudely potted, this appealing Pair of Late 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Figures of "A Cobbler and his Wife" ~ H 2183 / H 2184, nevertheless exude a naive charm. Seated on chairs on gilt lined square bases, she wears a mob-cap, shawl and long dress, and is pouring from a jug into a cup ~ He wears a hat, shirt, trousers and a long apron, and holds a shoe on his knee ~ From under the chairs peer a cat and a dog { or possibly two cats ! }.
