A large and attractive Pair of Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Spill Vases, modelled as a Scots Harvester and his Companion. He stands, attired in traditional Highland dress with his right arm around one large sheaf of corn, while she in a floral sprigged gown, stands with her left arm around another. These sheaves of corn each form a vase, and typically, such figures would have stood upon a mantel above the fireplace where the vases would have held spills, thin strips of wood or paper used for lighting a fire, candle, pipe, etc. ~ Sizes :-
