An attractive example, sparsely coloured, of this not uncommon Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Clock Figure ~ H 1649, modelled as a Scots Highlander and his Lass, seated together and framing a naive faux timepiece. Such "Clock Figures" were commonly found upon cottage mantelpieces in Victorian Britain, where many of the rural inhabitants were more accustomed to fixing the time of day by the position of the sun than by a pocket watch or clock.
