An engaging study of light and shade in this fine Late 20th Century Oil Painting on canvas by David Green, R.O.I. { 1935 - 2013 }. Elected to the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1992, the artist has exhibited widely and his work is well represented in both public and private collections around the world. Original frame measuring 59.00 cm. / 23.25 inches x 49.00 cm. / 19.25 inches overall, canvas measuring 50.75 cm. / 20.00 inches x 40.65 cm. / 16.00 inches and stamped HOLBEIN within red oval and numeral 2 on reverse. Picture signed but undated in the bottom left hand corner, DAVID GREEN. Roughly pencilled title "Venice" over artist's stamp on rear edge of canvas over left stretcher. Reminiscent of Monet's famous painting, "Le Palais de Mula", painted in Venice in 1908, which may perhaps have provided the inspiration for this fine work. Year ~ Circa 1975
