The first of a Pair of Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Figures commemorating "The Rocket", the early steam locomotive, designed and built by Robert Stephenson in 1829. Each is modelled as a girl and boy seated, together with their dog, beneath a tree trunk, the practical purpose of which was to serve as a spill vase, with three railway wagons passing by below, each figure with raised gilt titling viz. THE ROCKET. Although purchased by ourselves as a pair, each is really a freestanding figure in its own right and, whilst of course they may be purchased together, each is available separately and is thus listed here as such.
