Description

A good Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transferware Serving Dish or Platter produced in Liverpool by the Herculaneum Pottery, { c. 1793 - 1841 }, and printed in a medium blue palette in the "Net" pattern. Wares printed in this pattern with reserves containing printed and enamelled arms, including those of Liverpool Corporation bearing the motto "Deus Nobis Haec Otia Fecit", { God hath given us this tranquillity } were supplied to the Corporation by the Herculaneum Pottery during the early years of the 19th Century. cf. Coysh & Henrywood, "The Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery 1780 - 1880 Vol II". The reverse with impressed Maker's Mark, viz. HERCULANEUM 3.
