A tall and most elegant Pair of Mid /Late 18th Century Antique English Georgian Brass Candlesticks, earlier in style and thus perhaps a little "out of period", their slender columns rising from chamfered round bases with wooden plugs which we believe to be later additions / replacements. From a group described as "none too prolific" by Ronald Michaelis in "Old Domestic Base Metal Candlesticks", where a similar pair are illustrated in Figure 170, this pair are in excellent condition with that soft patina produced only by decades of hand polishing, and are certain to add lustre to the finest piece of early furniture.
Height ~ 30.48 cm. / 12.00 inches ~ Width at base ~ 13.33 cm. / 5.25 inches ~ Depth at base ~ 13.33 cm. / 5.25 inches ~ Year Circa 1775, the wooden plugs probably later replacements.
