A highly decorative Pair of Mid 19th Century Antique French Second Empire "Faux Bronze" Candelabra with pleasingly dark patination, the fluted, tapering columns mounted upon "Lion's" Paw" feet which rise from concave triangular bases, each three light candelabrum set around an attractive central finial of floreate inspiration. The various elements of this classically inspired design, which could so easily spill over into fussiness, here come together in a manner entirely pleasing and successful. This lovely old pair almost certainly once formed the flanking elements of a clock garniture and, while we have listed them as "Faux Bronze", { The Auctioneers from whence they were purchased having catalogued them as "Bronze" ! } }, they may well in fact be made of spelter. Even our knowledgeable metallurgist consultant couldn't decide for certain ! Either way, they make a highly desirable and decorative pair.
