A fine and scarce Early 18th Century Antique English Georgian Brass Candlestick, the knopped octagonal column rising from a stepped foot of complementary design, the socket pierced such that the spent candle stub could be pricked out. This early feature predates the introduction of the internal push-rod ejector which first made an appearance circa 1720, although clearly the use of both methods of removal continued for many years. This lovely example offered here with a warm soft colour and patina, the result of decades of hand polishing. For similar examples, see Chapter 11 of Ronald F.
