Description

A good Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Pewter Tavern Jug of Quart capacity, by John Warne of Blackfriars Road, London, { Cotterell O.P. 4968 }, the business recorded as founded in 1796 and subsequently acquired by Gaskell and Chambers. Good colour, the body engraved in script with the Owner's name and Town, i.e. :- H. Flint ~ Horsham, { Very likely the Proprietor of the tavern }, with Excise Stamps, QUART, SURREY EA and WS3 this below a crown, { perhaps the Inspector's Stamp ? }, the thumbpiece of the handle with unusual engraved device, the base of the interior stamped with the Maker's Mark of John Warne.

Height ~ 15.20 cm. / 6.00 inches ~ Width to include handle ~ 15.80 cm. / 6.26 inches ~ Depth to include spout ~ 14.60 cm. / 5.75 inches ~ Year ~ Circa 1825.
