This well cast Late 19th Century Antique English Victorian Brass "Lion" Door Porter / Doorstop would originally have had an iron weight inserted in the base in order to give added stability when placed to hold open a heavy door. As it is, with this now missing, the piece remains a most attractive item, ideal for use either for it's former purpose or simply as a decorative object. The face bearing the title in raised capitals, "THE BRITISH LION".
