A good Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Copper Measure of one gallon capacity. Of brazed, seamed construction, and bearing a Maker's Mark, which, although clear enough, we have so far been unable to identify, this piece could very well date from earlier in the century. However, the only extant Weights and Measures Inspector's stamp appears to be Edwardian, and as such measures were produced over a long period, we have chosen to err on the side of caution when cataloguing this piece. Fellow Dealer's and Collector's comments vis-a-vis these matters are most welcome. The body stamped GALLON, the collar with Weights and Measures Stamp, ER over 34 and 6 over 56, the footrim stamped with unidentified Maker's Mark. Lots of dents and dings but oozing period charm and character.
