A large, heavy and imposing Late 19th Century Antique English Victorian Oil Lamp, the decoration, principally in iron red and cobalt blue, very much in the style of the Mason's Ironstone patterns of the period, or perhaps inspired by the similar designs to be found on "Gaudy Welsh" pottery. The finely moulded column of dodecagonal form rising from a spreading foot to hold an integral pottery font, the good, clean burner with wick winder button marked "HINKS'S DUPLEX PATENT". Boldly painted with a series of large peonies and heightened with gilded arabesques, this is certainly one of the most impressive lamps to have passed through our stock in many a day. Offered here with a well matched burnt orange crimped shade of the period, beautifully etched with flowers and dragonflies. Replacement clear glass chimney, as one would expect.
