A most imposing Late Nineteenth Century Antique English Victorian Silver Plated Banqueting Oil Lamp of impressive proportions by the renowned makers, Hinks & Son of Birmingham. Standing at 101.50 cm. ~ 40.00 inches in overall height, and weighing some 11.00 kilos ~ over 24 lbs, this really is one of the most impressive lamps that we have handled in recent years. Top quality throughout, the fine cut glass font mounted upon a large and imposing Corinthian column which rises from a stepped and beaded square base, this exhibiting minor wear which may clearly be viewed in Image No. 2. The burner stamped HINKS & SON PATENT Rd. 65891, indicating that the patent was registered circa 1887/88, the wick winder button marked, HINKS No. 2 LEVER, the whole magnificent ensemble surmounted by a most attractive, florally etched and crimped cranberry pink shade of the period. Replacement chimney as one would expect.
