A most attractive Late 19th Century Antique English Victorian Oil Lamp, the striped pink and white vaseline glass font mounted upon a finely drawn fluted Corinthian column which rises from a heavy stepped square brass base. The font collar stamped, MESSENGER'S PATENT., for the Makers, Samuel S. Messenger and Sons, established in Birmingham prior to 1835. Good, clean burner, the wick winder buttons each inset with a rosette. The whole ensemble topped off with a delicately patterned and frilled pink shade of the period. Replacement clear glass chimney, as one would expect. A first class item for the imaginative Interior Decorator.
