A most unusual and decorative Late 19th Century Antique English Victorian Pewter Oil Lamp, seated upon a stepped round black ceramic base, the column modelled as a figure of the Titan, "Atlas", of Greek Mythology, who was condemned to hold up the sky for all eternity following the Titanomachy. The integral font here decorated with brass stars, and at the waist with a band of figures illustrating the twelve signs of the zodiac. Simple clean brass burner, the wick winder buttons each marked DUPLEX MADE IN ENGLAND, the whole surmounted by a most attractive and shapely green shade, of the period and etched with a floral design of lilies. The clear glass chimney a modern replacement as one would expect.
