Description

A good Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Pewter Grain Measure of Pint capacity, with brass banded rim. No Maker's mark, but the body stamped PINT, with Victorian Weights and Measures Inspector's stamp, and engraved with a partly illegible Leytonstone address. These measures were intended to be used for dry goods, seeds, grains and so forth. Once filled, a stick would then be drawn across the top to skim off any excess content, the brass band around the rim protecting the softer pewter body from damage.
