A large and attractive Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Pastille Burner ~ H 3265, modelled as a flower encrusted cottage, a larger version of Stock Ref. POAVSPPBH3265-27, together with which pair it would make a fine decorative group. Popular from around 1820 to 1860, pastille burners were containers, often modelled in the form of cottages, churches or summer houses, and frequently found with detachable lids, which were used for the burning of cassolette perfumes or incense. Highly desirable, not to say necessary in the days before the introduction of modern sanitation!
