Description

An attractive Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White indented pottery plate printed in the "Tudor Mansion" pattern by John Davenport of Longport, Staffordshire. Catalogued as such by Coysh { 1 - 31 }, where it is identified as Oxburgh Hall, subsequent research however has led to the re-classification of the pattern as "Bisham Abbey, Berkshire", under which title it appears in Volume I of The Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery by Coysh & Henrywood. The reverse with impressed lower case Davenport mark above an anchor, together with faint old hairline and miniscule edge nibble at 10 minutes past the hour.
