Description

A most unusual and attractive Late 19th / Early 20th Century Antique German, { possibly Dutch }, Engraved Glass Wine Decanter, the wheel engraved decoration of sailing ships and windmills complementing the more usual trailing vines and grapes. Some minor losses to the applied trailing clear glass prunts, but otherwise in excellent condition. Fine unground pontil mark to the base. The silver mounted cork stopper, in the form of two putti bearing a sailing vessel, { possibly a replacement }, hallmarked with what would appear to be the Maker's Mark of Neresheimer & Sohne of Hanau, { Founded 1893 }, which firm of silversmiths specialised in producing copies of earlier, antique pieces.

Height to include stopper ~ 27.30 cm. / 10.75.00 inches ~ Width : 14.00 cm. / 5.50 inches ~ Depth ~ 14.00 cm. / 5.50 inches ~ Year ~ Circa 1900
