A most attractive, Late 19th Century Antique "HB" Quimper French Faience Fluted Bowl of small size from the De La Hubaudiere atelier, the footrim pierced for hanging. Decorated in a typically naive palette, the interior with a figure of a Petit Breton, standing, facing to the right, pipe in hand amidst demi- fantaisie, the scene reserved within a blue entwined border with dots and couronnes. The exterior simply painted with blue dots and couronnes, the reverse signed HB { conjoined } in underglaze blue and bearing an illegible impressed mark. A small area, about half an inch, of rather rough glaze to the outer edge, such as is often to be found on pieces of Quimper faience of this period, may clearly be seen in Image 4.
