A most attractive Late 19th / Early 20th Century Antique Malicorne French Faience Dish of scalloped oval form, simply decorated with a single Fleur-de-Lis in blue, this the heraldic bearing of the Royal Family of France. Frequently mistaken for Quimper, the pottery at Malicorne-sur-Sarthe was first established in 1747 and was acquired from his wife's parents by Léon Pouplard in 1890. This piece, with that light crazing which is a typical feature of this ware, is signed upon the reverse with the authentic PBx mark of the period. An excellent decorative example for the collector.
