A good Early / Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Blue and White Transfer Plate from the "Mandarin Opaque China" series of which some fourteen scenes have to date been noted. The Maker presently unidentified with certainty, although it has been suggested that the wares may have been produced by Minton. cf. Coysh & Henrywood, "The Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery 1780 - 1880". This, the first scene there listed in the series depicting two Chinese figures within a stylised floral surround which includes a classical urn. The reverse with printed series title, MANDARIN OPAQUE CHINA within a cartouche.
