One of a matching Pair of Mid 19th Century Antique Victorian "Gaudy Welsh" Porcelain Tea Cups and Saucers, illustrated here together in Image 5 but available separately. On arrival, as part of a large collection of Gaudy Welsh, these were ticketed as "Snowflake" pattern, which seems entirely appropriate, but, that said, the pattern appears to be that listed as "Coral" in South's "Gaudy Welsh, A Visual Reference". Furthermore, as if to "muddy the waters", this pattern was used during the 19th century by Mintons and it may well be that this pair of cups and saucers were in fact produced in Stoke-on-Trent by that illustrious company. Offered here subject to this caveat, whatever their origin, they are indeed very beautiful and we leave it to you to decide on the truth of their provenance. Unmarked ~ Ex A. & P. Todd Collection.
