Description

Published in 2012 under the auspices of The Caughley Society in a limited edition of 500 numbered copies, this erudite work of scholarship immediately became accepted as the standard work of reference on its subject. We are delighted to have acquired the remaining unsold copies of the work, each individually numbered, directly from the Society, all of which we are now pleased to offer in mint condition.

From circa 1775 to 1799, at Caughley in Shropshire, Ambrose Gallimore and Thomas Turner produced some of the finest soft-paste porcelain made in England in the eighteenth century.

Written by experts from the Society, this book is the first ever to list, categorise and describe all of the known underglaze blue and white patterns and borders used by the factory on its wares. Lavishly illustrated, it contains details of 151 patterns and 67 borders from both private and museum collections, many of which have never before been published. Hard covers, some 255 pages, full colour illustrations, original dust jacket.
