A large and fine Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Pottery Serving Dish / Platter from the Crown Acorn and Oak Leaf Border Series, formerly attributed by Coysh and Stefano, { Collecting Ceramic Landscapes ~ Lund Humphries, London, 1981 }, to Ralph Stevenson of Cobridge, { c. 1810 - 1832 }, but now confirmed by Dick Henrywood, { The Transfer Recorder ~ Volume 2 ~ Reynardine Publishing, Crediton, Devon ~ Published June 2015 }, to have been produced by John Meir of Greengates Pottery, Tunstall, { c. 1812 - 1836 }. Decorated in a rich medium blue with a print of "Lowther Castle Westmorland", the seat of Viscount Lonsdale, of "Boxing Belt" fame, the reverse with impressed numeral 18, together with underglaze blue script printed title set within an octagonal panel, this beneath a crown, and flanked by two conifer sprays. The source for this view has been identified as "Views of the seats, Mansions, Castles, etc. of Noblemen and Gentlemen in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland", by John Preston Neale { 1780 - 1847 }, published in six volumes between 1819 and 1823.
