Description

A rare and attractive Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Plate of Indian interest, depicting the "Mausoleum of Sultan Purveiz" near Allahabad, together with a ceremonial procession in the foreground { Sack Plate 2-7 }, unmarked but attributed to William Walsh of Newcastle Street, Burslem, Staffordshire { Circa 1815 - 1822 }. The composite scene is derived from elements taken from a number of aquatints appearing in Thomas and William Daniell's "Oriental Scenery", which was published in six parts between 1795 and 1808.
