A good Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Pottery Soup Plate, printed in a medium blue palette and decorated in the "City of Corinth" pattern, from Spode's "Caramanian" Series. The engravings for the series were taken from "Views in the Ottoman Empire, chiefly in Caramania, a part of Asia Minor hitherto unexplored.....", this being Volume 2 of a large size three part work, entitled, "Egypt, Palestine and the Ottoman Empire", published in 1803. Catalogued by Drakard and Holdway, { Spode Transfer Printed Ware 1784 - 1833 }, as Pattern No. P905-13, this example with a fine clear print, good colour, the reverse with very faint star hairlines and Spode's early impressed Lower Case Mark together with the impressed numeral 2.
