Description

A scarce example of a small Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Pottery Platter, decorated in a dark blue palette with the "Classical Ruins" Pattern, the reverse with tiny impressed circular mark, otherwise unmarked but attributable to Thomas Lakin of Stoke { 1812 - 1817 }. Williams, { Antique Blue and White Spode }, suggests that the pyramid illustrated in the picture is probably the Caius Cestius monument built in Rome circa 30 B.C.
