A scarce and attractive Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Pottery Butter Dish with scrolled shell handle, printed in a medium dark blue in the "Palladian Porch" pattern, the Maker of which presently remains unidentified. The central scene, printed within an octagonal frame, depicts an Ancient Sepulchre near Macri, and is taken from Luigi Mayer's "Views in the Ottoman Empire, { 1803 }, which sourcebook was also used by Spode for their Caramanian series.
